What we do - how we help
Our History || How we help
Every family that we work with is unique and their situations will differ hugely, this is why each request that we receive is tailored to the exact requirements of that family.

Some examples of where financial assistance is given:-

General family assistance
Many families find that one of the parents has to give up work to become a full time carer for the child with kidney problems as their treatment is 24 hour. This can have a huge strain on family finances which is where we try and help:-

Hospital admission and visiting expenses - especially when a child has been admitted to hospital as an emergency and/or the family has to travel large distances to a specialised hospital.

Household items - including beds, mattresses, bedding, washing machines, and tumble dryers as some children have additional problems as a result of kidney complications.

Storage solutions - namely sheds, if a child can have dialysis at home they need to be able to store large amounts of fluid. In a lot of circumstances this can be stored in garden sheds.

General items - kitchen equipment, bedroom equipment, specialised equipment.

One Off Family Expenses
Birthday presents and parties - these are very important for the whole family, whether it is the child or a brother or sister. These are fantastic ways for the family to spend valuable time together.

Weekend / short breaks - we agree that after a child has been receiving ongoing treatment and is well enough to spend some time away from hospital that a family break is a wonderful experience for the whole family, some of the hospitals have places that the families can go to for a weekend or a short holiday. We are very happy to support this time together.

Unexpected costs
These can include large utility bills, phone, laundry, petrol. These costs can quite easily creep up when you are dedicating your time to the treatment of a child. It may be that you have had the heating on more than normal to keep them warm or that your laundry cost have increased due to the treatment they are receiving. There are numerous ways that these costs can happen and we like to help as much as possible.
